I literally grew up holding a microphone and wearing headphones which may explain why I have a passion to share stories and experiences with purpose and power to change lives. I’ve been blessed most of my life to be positioned in places with a rich history and promising future and with gifted people whose gifts make room for them when they are engaged.
My gift is helping places and people move from surviving to thriving. Simply, I identify their passions, clarify their purpose and fuel their power.
Almost as dreamed, I had incredible runs in local radio behind the microphone and on national television in front of the camera. More than the production, it was the process that I learned from the best how to craft the idea, shape the narrative, organize teams and manage budgets. This prepared me for meaningful contributions and collaborations that have resulted in the last ten years in being honored to serve as Chief of Staff to Mayor of Birmingham, Alabama being a part of an amazing renaissance, leading a new division for a national radio group and breaking new ground with a HBCU initiative that will deliver $1M in scholarships and grants to students and institutions.
I’m active on several boards and serve as Chairman of The YARD HBCU Initiative and excited about the best and brightest getting the attention they deserve.
What most characterize as jobs, I call adventures, especially when you are enjoying the warm south and take flight to a chilly and Windy City to be a part of this new chapter in the iconic Chicago Urban League. We will help bright minds to secure employment and create career pipelines, develop new skills, own homes and build wealth and empower a new generation of entrepreneurs and innovators.
Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity.
---George S. Patton
The work that we do is not only resonating, it’s activating.
